St. Paul's Health Center

Community-driven, rights-based health care in rural Kenya

Victorine is a social worker at UCRC.

Common Hope for Health’s flagship partner is Ugunja Community Resource Center (UCRC), an indigenous community development organization established by a group of Kenyan villagers in 1987. Together, CHH and UCRC have operated St. Paul's Health Center since 2005. Run primarily by members of the local community, St. Paul’s serves the destitute sick not only through primary health care, but also through a broad range of social services such as nutritional support, agricultural training, information technology training, and small-business grants.

Common Hope for Health has partnered with UCRC to assist with a variety of technical aspects of running a primary health care center: health service provision, resource mobilization, medical training, strategic planning, program design, monitoring and evaluation, and policy advocacy. Through this broad portfolio of services, CHH is committed to empowering UCRC and other dynamic grassroots initiatives to become centers of excellence in the provision of equitable, comprehensive, high-quality care to all those who need it.
